Melanie Turner
Registered Marriage Celebrant

About Me

"Melanie was brilliant not only on our big day but in the weeks leading up to it. Offering her support from the beginning, assisting with our vow formation, order of ceremony, taking us through the rehearsal step by step, right down to having rescue remedy on hand for the groom! She had everything covered and was truly amazing, could not have hoped for a better celebrant"

I am a New Zealand Registered Independent Marriage Celebrant based in Auckland. When my husband and I were planning our wedding in January 2008, we found a significant shortage of celebrants that we could relate to on a personal level. We wanted our celebrant to be someone who understood the type of ceremony that we were after, as well as someone who knew what it meant to be a young couple preparing for marriage.

I have a Master of Arts (Hons) degree in Sociology from the University of Auckland, as well as a BA(Hons) in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Political Studies. I received the Womens Studies Association of New Zealand Rosemary Seymour scholarship in 2006 for my Master of Arts research – my thesis theme was ways of empowering young women into male dominated skilled trade apprenticeships (specifically building, plumbing and electrical apprenticeships). I also teach flute in my spare time.
